I am pleased to announce that the Social Security Tribunal’s new and simplified Notice of Appeal and Leave to Appeal forms are now available. These improved forms are part of the Tribunal’s ongoing effort to make the appeals process easier, particularly for appellants seeking Employment Insurance, Canada Pension Plan, or Old Age Security benefits.

These forms have been redesigned to be more user-friendly. They are shorter, are written in plainer language, and even include tips on how to submit an appeal. Another benefit of the new forms is that appellants can now choose email as their preferred method of communication with the Tribunal. This will speed up the process in two ways: by eliminating transit time through the mail, and by giving the Tribunal a faster way to follow up for questions or missing information.

Our registry officers remain available to help appellants fill out the forms. Our officers can be reached toll-free at 1-877-227-8577, from Monday to Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. (Eastern Time). Questions can also be sent to info.sst-tss@canada.gc.ca.

These new forms are just one of the many initiatives we are working on to improve usability, simplify our processes, and—most importantly—meet the needs of Canadians.
