In January 2019, we announced that appellants at the General Division could choose the type of hearing they preferred in most cases.
We temporarily paused in-person hearings during the height of COVID-19 to ensure everyone’s safety, but we’re now able to hold in-person hearings again.
Appellants can choose between:
- in-person at a Service Canada Centre
- videoconference on a personal device
- teleconference
- videoconference at a Service Canada Centre
Appellants can indicate their preferred type of hearing in their Notice of Appeal form. Offering various hearing options is part of our commitment to access to justice.
